Story

As the very first Ruler of Energy, there is so much that Abigail does not know about herself or her abilities, which can make it difficult to understand her limitations. Her powers are special, unlike any other super-human who has an ability that consumes energy/ She is able to create various forms of energy where others require an outside source of energy to work. For example, Where Buzz pulls a charge from the electricity in the atmosphere or electrical equipment, Abigail can send an electric pulse from under water. Where Mags requires a heat source to intensify to create flames, Abigail can combust in the middle of a blizzard. And where Tommy requires a light source to send burning hot rays through the air, Abigail can light up the darkest of rooms. This is possible due to her connections to the energies of the universe when paired with her stone’s ability to amplify those connections.

Before super-humans became such a common part of society, physics told us all that energy could not be destroyed but only converted into other forms of energy. Now that they are everywhere, physics has been altered in a number of ways and the understanding that energy can only be transferred is now untrue. This principal has been disproven time and time again as super-humans around the world have been carelessly wasting energues and some of them have found different ways to destroy it. In order to keep energy stable throughout the universe, Abigail was chosen to be a conduit of these energies, giving them a place to return to once their form has been destroyed. Once they have returned, she has access to send the energy back into the universe in whatever for she deems necessary.

Abigail’s role in the super-human lifecycle is one of the most important. As more energies are destroyed, without her to rebalance the energy levels, eventually there would be no fire to bring us warmth, no light to protect us from th creatures left unseen in the darkness, and the end would come when there was no longer the force required to continue the Earth’s rotation. She has got a very heavy weight to carry on her shoulders which, at times, can be a bit too much to handle.

With her role amongst the super-hero community being so new, the only thing she has to go off of for consequences is a cryptic prophecy told by a B-List psychic that said, “Allow your warmth to sink too low, too much to carry you’re sure to blow, too high for me these energies be, returned to you and then you’re through.”

Basically, once translated, it predicted that if she allows energy levels to drop too low, energy build up will be too much for her to handle and cause her death as it literally tears through her to get out. If she lets them get too low, the universe will kick back the excess energies surely causing her death in another, gory fashion. Will none of that being rested or proven, Abigail’s mind sometimes overthinks her situation casing her to freeze up at the most inopportune times, leaving her unable to use her powers at all for fear of suddenly exploding or somehow dying. When not consumed by her fear of the unknown, she usually remains rather conservative with her abilities, sometimes being misinterpreted as selfish in cold, harsh conditions during the winder months and burning alove during the summer time but not only does she have all the energy required for survival at her finger tips but she also realizes Unlike most energy-driven super-humans, Abigail has the unique ability to create the energy she exerts. Most rely on the energy that already exists: Some take static electricity from the atmosphere to expel bolts of lightning, others absorb the light around them to expel extremely heated light rays, but none of them are able to do what she is able to by creating those elements for herself and others to use.

She is not limited by that which already exists – at least not in the same sense as everyone else. She can create fire without heat, throw lightening without electricity and expel white hot light from the middle of a pitch black room. But even still, her limitations are grand.

Before the existence of super-humans in the numbers they have now, energy was never destroyed, only transferred from one form to another – while this may have been true then, but the existence of Abigail’s numerous subjects changed that along with a number of other laws of physics. Many abilities are capable of completely destroying different forms of energy. As Ruler of Energy, it is her responsibility to ensure that all of the world’s energies are not completely destroyed. Energy that does reach its ends finds its way to Abigail, allowing her to return it to the natural order of things however she sees fit. But if she exceeds the amount of energy the universe can handle, she loses all of her powers until a time the recreation is needed once more.

Although she has not lost her powers as of yet, since becoming a ruler, she remains vigilant to reserve her supply for a time when she is required to release it back. She finds it difficult to reserve her energies while maintaining the appropriate amounts of energy to everyone else.

With Marcus constantly in pursuit of her stone to wield her powers, one must keep the balance to keep from being caught off guard with no powers to aid her. Another theory is that producing too much energy for the universe will kick the excess back to her – but she is not ready to figure out the truth either way. And if Marcus were to ever take control of that type of energy, there would be no hope for humanity’s survival.
